About the Event

On Mother’s Day weekend every year, Royal LePage Benchmark in Cochrane hosts the annual Royal Lepage Shelter Foundation Garage Sale in support of local women's shelters, and after its inception, Big Hill Haven. Over the course of 12 years we have seen the garage sale grow from our office's parking lot to the Lions Event Centre where it is now held, and in 2019 we raised over $5,000 from the sale alone for Big Hill Haven.

2020 was meant to be our 12th year but due to the pandemic we made the decision to postpone for two years in a row. This year, we really wanted to give the community an opportunity to get together, meet their neighbours, share some laughs, and support this vital service in our town. That is why Royal LePage Benchmark is hosting Cochrane’s Biggest Block Party in 2022!

The party starts on May 6th with a live comedy show, drinks, and silent auction. On May 7th we have the Garage Sale and the newly added local artisan craft sale. There will be raffle prizes, food, and a kids shopping corner!

100% of proceeds from the ticket sales, silent auction, and garage sale will be donated to Big Hill Haven. In the weeks leading up to the sale we collect donated items and after the sale is over anything remaining is distributed to various non-profit stores throughout Cochrane and Calgary.

About Big Hill Haven

Big Hill Haven, part of the Cochrane Women's Emergency Shelter Society, provides outreach support, emergency shelter and case management for women and families looking to put domestic abuse behind them. Their mission is to provide a safe place for women with or without children leaving domestic violence and empower them to rebuild their lives by providing support services and advocacy. Also helping lead our community in understanding the issues related to family violence.

About the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation

The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has raised more than $35 million to support abused women and their children living in shelters across Canada. Through agent commission donations and the fundraising activities of the Royal LePage network, we are helping to provide a safe haven and new beginnings to more than 50,000 women and children each year. All funds raised by Royal LePage offices remain in their local community and because Royal LePage Canada pays all administrative costs, 100% of all money raised goes toward this important cause.
